Was bedeutet heutigen Jugendlichen in Frankreich der 11. November? Dieser Tag ist in der Französischen Republik Feiertag. Alljährlich werden die Lehrerinnen und Lehrer des Fachs Histoire-Géographie vom Pariser Unterrichtsministerium daran erinnert, angemessen auf die Bedeutung dieses Tages für die Geschichte Frankreichs und Europas einzugehen.
Der Vortrag konzentriert sich auf die heute dominierenden Narrative zum Ersten Weltkrieg in französischen Schulbüchern und in der konkreten Unterrichtspraxis.

The World War I in history education in France. Still important for the national history?

What is the importance of the 11th of November for young french students today? The day is a national holiday. All history teachers in the country are told by the Ministère de l’Education nationale to deal with the importance of this day for French and European history. The topic concerns dominating narratives of World War I in French textbooks and school education.
