Decolonial Politics of Memory in the Museum? Guided tour and discussion on REINVENTING GRASSI.SKD
The section title "Colonial Heritage on Site" is particularly appropriate for only a few places in Leipzig, such as the GRASSI Museum of Ethnology in Leipzig. What can a decolonial memory policy mean for an ethnological museum today? How can it be reflected in exhibitions, program work, education, as well as in institutional "backend" such as restoration, collection management and digital infrastructure? With a guided tour of the newly designed exhibition spaces, we would like to provide insights into the work of REINVENTING GRASSI.SKD. Afterwards, there will be an opportunity for discussion and exchange over a drink at the "Weißen Roß," the old Leipzig pub that has found a new home in the "Bonvenon" room of the museum.
This event is not barrier-free.
