The German Historikertag is the central forum for Historians and their field in Germany. For the public, the 50th German Historikertag is an opportunity to participate in the ongoing developments and prevailing topics of the field. As a modern humanities and culture studies subject, historical research also reflects current contemporary issues. The motto “Winners and Loosers” points towards a broad spectrum of topics and questions that are concerned with the theory and methodology of History as a field of research, too. The Historikertag provides a framework for lively exchange between the sub-disciplines on the one hand and interdisciplinary discussions on the other. At the same time, the Historikertag welcomes not only professional historical researchers, but encourages scholars of related sciences, teachers, as well as all who are interested in History to participate.
