In this guided city tour the history of the city is approached from a postcolonial
perspective. Precisely the quarter, where the newest city centre—the Harbour City—is
being build is also the old colonial storage quarter. We will visit the Chilehaus, the
Speicherstadt, and the Elbphilharmonie and discuss on the continuities and interruptions
of the colonial past (and present), which is inscribed in Hamburg’s city planning.
