Exploring the Field of Interdisciplinary Dis/ability History DESCRIPTION:Dis/ability history has recently been emerging as an international approach which claims to study entire societies in a new way by using dis/ability as an analytical tool. In order to assess societies’ integrative and/or segregating dimensions dis/ability proves to be particularly apt as it is connected with discourses and practices of participation, inclusion and exclusion, with ascriptions of difference and inequality and with normative and regulative processes. The panel consists of four short contributions which highlight medieval, early modern and modern atttitudes towards dis/ability. They center on daily life perspectives and on the intersections of dis/ability and gender in accordance with main research tendencies across epochal borders. By integrating the perspectives of art history, visual representations and material culture the panel offers an interdisciplinary access. Furthermore, it deals with the communication of research to a broad public in museums. Der Beitrag Dis/ability – Everyday Life – Gender.
