Reorganisation of the 53rd German Historian’s Day

The Convention of German Historians 2021 in Munich is going to take place as a hybrid event consisting of a mainly digital program and a reduced live program. This was collectively agreed upon after intensive discussions by the Munich committee and the VHD. It is our main concern to ensure that the Convention of German Historians can take place in a secure manner allowing exchange on current issues in the field. For this purpose, we are developing a viable concept combining organizational requirements and flexibility regarding the COVID-19-pandemic’s course.

The festive opening ceremony of the Convention of German Historians will take place on Monday, 4October 2021. It can be attended virtually or on-site, depending on the scale and the circumstances of the pandemic at that moment. The panels will only take place remotely on Tuesday, 5 October, and Wednesday, 6 October 2021. On Thursday, 7October 2021, the program including a festive event will take place at the Ludwig-Maximilians-University live and can also be actively attended virtually.

The general assemblies of the holding associations are taking place digitally on Friday, 8 October 2021. Forums, programs and special events will take place as well if possible.

The Munich committee is looking forward to a different, but in any case inspiring Convention of German Historians and to welcome you to our virtual space as well.
