It offers historians a model for presenting their research in the form of serious gaming; and the game topics themselves simulate the real-life experience of research for BA and MA student-players. Unlike conventional academic outputs, the game allows the writer to explore nonlinear storytelling and to create parallel and multi-directional narratives. Meanwhile, the players experience the genesis of a piece of global history research, learning to chronicle and map this creative process in innovative ways. More fundamentally, Lives in Transit encourages players to reflect on the nature of doing research in a digitized world.
