Love and betrayal, anger and hope, longing and disappointment, passion and lies - life stories from the GDR reflect the full range of great emotions and are thus always an inspiration for authors. A generation of young writers, born after the end of the GDR, is now discovering the vanished country as material for novels, stories and reports. Among them are the writer Lukas Rietzschel ("Raumfahrer") and the journalist Valerie Schönian ("Ostbewusstsein"), who grew up in Kamenz and Gardelegen, respectively. In conversation, they discuss why the view of the aftermath of division and reunification remains relevant today and to what extent the topic also concerns them personally.
