In the debates about better working conditions and future career paths in academia, the subject-specific design of qualification goals and, associated with this, the minimum duration for fixed-term employment contracts that address these goals play a central role. How should qualification goals in the subject of history be designed in the future to meet the diverse current challenges ( including competencies for research data infrastructure, public history, digital history) and new career paths such as junior professorships?
