More than a fact check! Historical research by pupils as historical-cultural capital

Since 1973, the History Competition of the Bundespräsident has been calling on children and young people to explore the history of their region or family. On the occasion of its 50th birthday, historians and actors take a look back and discuss challenges and future opportunities for historical research by students.

How has the competition changed the field of history? What have the research projects in the region achieved? What is needed for all students, regardless of school type, to participate? And how are historical research and the competition changing in the digital world?

These and other questions will be discussed by a scientific panel and a panel discussion with actors from schools, archives, and the Körber Foundation involved in the competition.
