The Sächsisches Wirtschaftsarchiv e.V. (SWA) is the regional business archive for the Free State of Saxony. This institution was founded in 1993 by the three Saxon Chambers of Industry and Commerce (Industrie- und Handelskammern: IHK) in Leipzig, Chemnitz and Dresden. To this day, the IHK, and since 2004 also the Handwerkskammer Leipzig, are the supporting members of the archive association. In the meantime, 115 members and also the Handwerkskammern Dresden and Chemnitz support the work of the archive.
The SWA administers more than 360 holdings from industry, trade and crafts, including numerous preliminary bequests and estates, e.g. of industrial designers. Many collections complement the holdings, especially advertising material, posters, shares, letterheads, etc.
The SWA is currently based in the Konsumzentrale in Leipzig-Plagwitz. During a tour of the stacks, this interesting ensemble of buildings will also be presented.

The 60-minute guided tour of the archive may be followed by a 30-minute guided tour of the Konsumzentrale. More information will follow.
