Archival research and digital presentation. Leipzig projects concerning basic research on Bach

Download iCal

Using treasures from the collection of the Bach-Archive and the Thomanerchor - musical works, biographical items, and other objects - we present the methods of basic research in the historical "Sommersaal" of the Bosehaus on Thomaskirchhof, directly opposite Johann Sebastian Bach's main workplaces in Leipzig, the Thomaskirche and -schule.

Colleagues from the research department of the Bach-Archive provide insights into their research based on these objects.

Digital Bach research ("Bach digital", "JSBach.de") as well as the academy project started in 2023 ("Research Portal BACH") will be presented, highlighting their potential for Bach research and musical performance practice, as well as their pioneering function as a historical archival project for biographical materials related to the entire Bach family.

Following the presentation (at 3:30 p.m.), there will be a guided tour of the adjacent "Bach Museum" with visits to the permanent exhibition, the special exhibition (on the 300th anniversary of Bach's inauguration as Leipzig's music director in 1723), and the treasury.

Binding registration via begleitprogramm@historikertag.de until September 1st, 2023.
