SUMMARY:[Historikertag 2023] Art on Campus
DESCRIPTION:After the fractures of World War II and the GDR period, particularly the "campus redesign" associated with the demolition of the University Church and Augusteum in 1968, numerous artworks were able to return to their original areas during the latest construction campaign.
Five so-called "memory complexes" highlight various epochs of university history from the Middle Ages to the present day by means of preserved artworks. These include the Dominican frescoes, the inventory of the demolished university church, a gallery of professors from the Baroque period, works from the extended 19th century and the socialist university.
The tour presents selected highlights of the mostly publicly placed art collections.
