The workshop is aimed at people interested in the Semantic Web, Linked Open Data and SPARQL without any previous knowledge. It includes a short introduction to the use of the Wikidata platform and introduces the possibilities of Linked Open Data in research practice using examples from the field of history. Participants will learn about the SPARQL query language and will be familiarised with the use of the Wikidata query service by means of simple examples. In addition, some examples of the possible uses of Wikidata and Linked Open Data in the historical sciences will be presented.
