This reflection has focused on the totality of all expressions of Jewish life but has also often been appropriated and alienated by outside cultural-political aspirations and goals. The section shows aspects of the previous social and cultural-political handling of Jewish cultural heritage in Europe from the Jewish and non-Jewish sides; but it also opens ways for a patrimonialization of Jewish cultural heritage as well as for negotiations in the public presentation and political effectiveness of this heritage for a present and future coexistence of Jews and non-Jews "at eye level." As an interdisciplinary section, it considers scientific, monument preservation, museological and cultural-political aspects for critical discussion. The way in which objects and sites of Jewish cultural heritage have been treated to date will be examined, as well as the possible future integration of these in scientific, museum and public relations activities, contexts. Due to the ubiquity of Jewish and non-Jewish history and culture, the negotiation processes will not only lead to a new critical reflection of the cultural heritage that has developed from it but also to a questioning of the overall social and identity processes that encompass the whole of society and all religions. This section is submitted by the "Society for the Study of the History of the Jews" and refers to the "History of the Jews" and relates to subprojects of its members within the DFG-funded priority program "Jewish Cultural Heritage" (SPP 2357). It is suitable for the target group of teachers and students. Der Beitrag Question Jewish Cultural Heritage erschien zuerst auf Historikertag 2023. LOCATION:HS7 END:VEVENT END:VCALENDAR
