Along the Leipzig millrace. DESCRIPTION:This walk along the Pleiße and Elster mill canals will focus on the relationship between the early urban agglomeration, the emerging legal city, and the late medieval Leipzig with the rivers Parthe, Pleiße, Elster, and Luppe. Since the 12th century, the power of these rivers has been harnessed by spiritual communities and increasingly with municipal support in mill canals for the operation of grain and cutting mills. The walk starts at the GWZ on Beethovenstraße and ends at the Elster mill canal on Jahnallee.
