55th Deutscher Historikertag

The Verband der Historiker und Historikerinnen Deutschlands (VHD) and the local committee are looking forward to the next Historikertag, which will take place in Bonn from September 16 to 19, 2025. The Historikertag is the largest platform for German-speaking historians. It reflects current historical research in all its diversity and international networking. Next year’s focus will be on the dynamics of power.

The Historikertag has been the forum for historical studies in Germany for over 130 years. Today, with around 2,500 participants from Germany and abroad, the congress is one of the largest in the humanities in Europe. The aim of the meetings is to present the results of historical research to the public, to discuss current concerns of historians and to engage in professional and social exchange. Current topics from all areas of historical work are the focus of discussion in over 70 specialist sections and a large number of other events.

The 55th Deutsche Historikertag is organized by the Verband der Historiker und Historikerinnen Deutschlands (VHD) and the local committee of the University of Bonn in cooperation with the Verband der Geschichtslehrerinnen und -lehrer Deutschlands (VGD).
